Beginner's Corner (FAQ)

Any road-worthy bike will do! A simple road bike is most common, but you can use a mountain bike or hybrid. You don't need an expensive "tri-bike" to get started.

Wetsuits are only mandatory if the water temperature is below a certain point (usually 16°C/61°F). They are "wetsuit legal" up to a warmer temperature (around 24°C/76°F) because they provide buoyancy.

The transition (T1 & T2) is the timed part of the race where you switch from swimming to cycling, and from cycling to running, in a designated transition area.
